Young Unionists at Queen’s outraged by University’s Treatment of Students over Strike Action

The Young Unionists at Queen’s are outraged at the way in which both the University and the Association of University Teachers (AUT) have been treating students over the ongoing strike action.

In a statement Queens YU Chairperson Jennifer Dunn said,

“The assessment boycott is the stance which affects the student population the greatest. The AUT could have boycotted lecturing or research which would have impacted upon the University more.

“The way in which the University has handled the matter is very unprofessional. Cancelling exams just a few days before they are due to be taken has put undue stress on students.

“The Young Unionists at Queen’s wish to see an end to the industrial action as soon as possible so that student life can get back to normal. We do however sympathise with the position in which the AUT and the University are in but believe that the situation could have been handled much better by both sides.”
