Empey says all Parties should be part of Hothouse Talks in October

The UUP has learned that the ‘hothouse’ talks scheduled for 11 -13 October in Scotland will not include single member parties or independents.

UUP Leader Sir Reg Empey received the party’s invitation to the talks this morning.

In a statement Sir Reg said,

“When I received the party’s invite to the talks in Scotland I understand that no invitation has been issued to the UK Unionist Party or Independent members.

This is a new policy. In the past all the parties were invited as they all played a part in the talks process we are currently engaged in. Our view is that the governments should invite all the parties and that they should continue to be a part of the process.

We can only conclude that some people in some parties don’t want certain people to be there for whatever reasons.”
